In the wake of the tragedy of September 11, 2001, a coalition of retail industry, technology industry, and not-for-profit organizations was formed to develop an effective, practical solution for retail data biosurveillance. Spearheaded by the business intelligence and technology development experts of Bracken Foster & Associates, LLC, that collaboration gave birth to BioSentinel® -- a private sector, retail data clearinghouse that centrally collects, processes and analyzes specially engineered categories of particular retail product sales for biosurveillance and public health monitoring purposes.

Indianapolis-based BioSentinel® Solutions pioneered the very first retail data monitor for biosurveillance, and to this day continues to advance the art and science of retail data biosurveillance and early warning.
